FIREPAW D<

I gazed up at the sky, up into the distance. It was dusk; the sun barely creeping below the tips of the mountains miles away. Today had been a sucky day, in a long line of sucky days. I, Max, and the youngest members of the flock: Nudge, Angel, and the Gasman, had gone to scour the forests below for some kind of dinner. We left Iggy back in the cave by himself to fix a fire with the sticks we'd collected earlier today -- Not the best idea. Not a single spark or ember when we'd come back; Iggy was just fiddling with a new bomb he was making. Oh joy.

The wing carried the dark figure through the air. A teenage boy, a package of hotdogs in tow, was flying in tight circles, banking and swooping, trying to land perfectly on the ground below. The treetops brushed under his sneakers and he tumbled down in a very small clearing.
"Max?" He breathed, looking around. They had to be somewhere, his dark eyes sought out for them, but no-one was there. He tensed at the sound of a twig snapping. Erasers? No, a rabbit shot out of the undergrowth and surged into its wren. A sigh crippled him, he sat down on the ground and stared at his occupied hands, the hotdogs would be nice over a fire, if anything. Placing it on the ground, safetly beside him, he cupped his hands around his mouth.
"Max!"

I blinked once, twice, and turned my head downward. From the cave the flock and I were in, you could see for miles around. I listened intently, swearing I head someone calling my name. I scanned the ground below with my raptor vision, until my eyes rested on a small clearing. I thought I saw something moving, but who knows? Too hard to tell from here. "I'll be back in a minute!" I said to the flock without looking at them. Then I stood, backed up a little, then ran for the edge of the cave; I released my wings, loving the feeling of the wing catching them as a flew into the darkening sky. immediately, I started swooping down, but not too fast, toward the clearing. Just to be careful. Running into an Erasrer or some mad scientist in the middle of a forest was not on top of my to-do list. Oh well.
I landed near the edge of the clearing, and slowly folded in my wings.

He tipped his head backwards, noting the slim aviatic figure dancing through the skies. Fang pushed the hair out of his face, batting it away with one hand and stood up, protectively clasping the only meal they had in days against his chest. Maybe a winged eraser? He got ready, tensing as the speeding avion came closer, ready to fight for his life.
God lord, it better be you, Max.
He growled silently as he stepped back a bit, the muscles in his back tensed, wings practically unfurling already.

"Fang?" I said, blinking, my eyes staring at the human - well, it's best to say creature, considering I still didn't know who or what the h it was. "That you, Fnick?" I giggled a little on the inside.

He growled, by that nickname, it was definately Max. Fang sighed deeply, exhaling all the air in his lungs, relieved to see her.
"I found food~!" He mumbled, holding up the hot dog package to Max triumphantly in an oh-so-cool sort of way. The teenager shoved it in her hands before shoving his into his pockets.

"You mean you stole food?" I said, grinning a little. "Where'd ya get it? Steal it from an old lady? jack it from Wal-Mart?'' I stuffed the package in my jacket pocket. "Come on," I said, letting my wings out. "Wanna go back to the flock?"
